At Christmas, many old villages in Catalonia turn into a 'pessebre vivents' or living nativity scenes, depicting the biblical story of the birth of Jesus.

The residents of the medieval part of the village depict all kinds of scenes in their homes, forming a route that you follow as a visitor. Every year we visit a different one, this year in Les Torres de Falls.

The Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet

About an hour’s drive from Torre Nova Resort is the Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet (Monestir de Poblet) in Vimbodí i Poblet, in the province of Tarragona, beautifully situated at the foot of the Prades Mountain Range. Poblet is the largest still-inhabited Cistercian monastery on the Ruta del Cister in Catalonia. The name "Poblet" likely comes from the Latin Populetum, meaning “poplar grove.” It is one of the most impressive monastic complexes in Spain, not only for its architecture and size, but also for the role it has played in history — religious, cultural and political.
